Midwest-Gascoyne Regional Exercise 13-15 September 2024

Friday the 13th in the afternoon, Lynton Station was descended upon by the Midwest-Gascoyne region SES units—Kalbarri, Geraldton/Greenough, Meekatharra, Moora and ICV crew from Geraldton. The regional career staff attended as well.
As always, the friendly flies decided to accompany us just to make sure we keep the ‘Aussie wave’ happening at regular intervals.
Exercise Coordinator extraordinaire, Steve Cable, had all of the scenarios planned well. Saturday morning started off with GPS familiarisation skills, Clarke Mast with repeater radios installed, basic First Aid and Winch Recovery Techniques utilising different systems.
After we had lunch prepared by the talented Ms Trina, the teams were sent out to do some Comms set up on a nearby hill. Search techniques were practiced looking for a missing person, and to do a rescue taking advantage of our rope systems to haul a stretcher up a steep incline.
