Congratulations to the Pingelly State Emergency Service Unit, whose volunteers marked their 40th anniversary on 22 November 2025 at the Pingelly SES headquarters.
The celebration brought together special guests along with past and present members, who enjoyed a presentation showcasing the unit’s history, current activities, and equipment—both old and new.
Distinguished guests included:
- Ms Klasey Hirst, MLC, representing Lotterywest
- Mrs Jackie McBurney, President of the Shire of Pingelly
- Mr Craig Smith, DFES Superintendent, Upper Great Southern Region
Alan Hawke, SESVA Vice President South, presented a commemorative plaque to the unit in recognition of four decades of dedicated service.
During the formal proceedings, members received long service medals, awards, and service clasps.

A highlight of the event was a special presentation to the unit’s inaugural Local Manager, Mr William (Bill) Mulroney ESM, who remains an active member today.
Following the formalities, attendees enjoyed fellowship over lunch and sampled a specially made anniversary cake. A commemorative book detailing the history of Pingelly SES was also published for the occasion.
The success of this milestone event is a credit to the manager and members of Pingelly SES, whose resourcefulness and many hours of preparation made it truly memorable.
