Veterans, Emergency Services and Police Industry Institute Australia (VESPIIA) is conducting a national survey to better understand the lived experience of women across Defence, police, fire, ambulance, SES, corrections, and related frontline services.
For years, national inquiries and internal reviews have identified persistent gaps in how service systems support women. In areas such as equipment design, reproductive health, menopause, mental health, reporting processes, and career progression, women often experience service differently.
What we lack is consolidated, cross-sector data. This survey focuses on women’s experiences in service environments. Responses from all genders are welcome where relevant, including LGBTIQA+ personnel and men. Broader perspectives help us understand how culture, leadership, and policy operate in practice.
