Hello to you all

The Association takes this opportunity to acknowledge the 20th anniversary of the passing of Jim Regan during a rescue operation in Karijini National Park. We recognise family members and friends of Jim who will be remembering this great SES Volunteer at this significant time. Jim, you are still missed; thank you from all our hearts. Rest in Peace.

SESVA Media & PR Strategy

The Media and PR Strategy team held its first meeting on 21st March. The team will meet 3 or 4 times a year with aim of developing strategies to build a positive public perception, enhance community awareness, and ensure recognition of SES volunteers.

SESVA Newsletter

The SES Volunteers Association of WA (Inc) Newsletter used to be delivered to subscribers from an email server direct to their email accounts with the Newsletter attached in a PDF format, then open the PDF to read on-screen and/or print the Newsletter.

 

Tribute to Jim Regan

On the 1st of April 2004 a tourist party visited the Hancock Gorge area of Karijini National Park where one of the party was injured.

James (Jim) Regan was part of an SES Cliff Rescue team dispatched from Newman and Tom Price SES units who worked with police officers and CALM National Park rangers to res- cue the injured tourist.

Newman SES Local Manager Connie Reed reflects 20 years on……

Each time I park my vehicle at the Newman SES unit, I look across at our memorial rock for Jimmy. I don’t think of the sadness but reminisce the good times and the fun times. Jimmy was part of our Vertical Rescue team. 

New General Rescue Course

DFES have recently published a new SES General Rescue Course. Trainer assessors are in process of endorsement and handover is anticipated mid-April 2024.

Details on the rollout are not yet known, but we expect the course to appear on training calendars for either or both Metro or individual units this year.

National Memorial Service 2024

AFAC, the National Council for fire and emergency services in Australasia, will be conducting commemorations at the AFAC National Emergency Services Memorial, Canberra, on May 2, 2024.

SESVA President Greg Cook and Secretary Allen Gale will be attending from WA along with SES Youth Achievement Award winner for 2023, Anjuli Till of the Kalgoorlie-Boulder SES unit.

Swan SES 60th Anniversary

Come join the Swan SES celebrating 60 years in the Community.
