2024 marks the 65th Anniversary of the SES in WA & 125th Anniversary of Fire & Emergency Services in Western Australia
The SES Volunteers Association wants to encourage SES units to come up with ways to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the SES in WA. At the same time, SES units are also encouraged to support DFES’ plans to celebrate the 125th anniversary of fire and emergency services in WA. DFES plan to acknowledge all the personnel who have contributed and continue to contribute to the multi-faceted, multi-hazard emergency agency Western Australians have the benefit of today.
History and Photos
One of the first activities will be a new page on the DFES website commemorating the 125th milestone. The page will be launched later in January with the following activities planned throughout 2024.
- Launch of 125th branding materials website
- Gratitude Wall—inviting community members to write thank you messages to emergency services personnel.
- Online chronology—sharing the history of WA emergency services.
- A time capsule event
- 125 years celebratory video
- A virtual tour of the State Operation’s Centre
- 125 references at the 2024 WAFES conference
All volunteers are encouraged to get involved by:
- emailing historical photos for inclusion on the DFES 125th webpage (launch March-April)
- Sharing key milestones from your Unit’s history
- Providing feedback on any of the DFES planned activities
- Providing suggestions for any SES 65th anniversary activities.
