September is now the time for communities to take action to reduce the impacts of seasonal hazards. Spring and summer bring higher levels of risk to many across Western Australia and again for many, the consequence of inaction is loss. Government, company and personal unexpected loss.

Upper Great Southern Leaders Forum

The Upper Great Southern Leaders Forum 2023 convened at Narrogin on Saturday 19th August 2023. At the invitation of Superintendent Craig Smith, SESVA Vice President Alan Hawke attended on behalf of the President, Greg Cook.

 

AFAC – 2023

AFAC, the Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council, indeed plays a crucial role in bringing together emergency service personnel, equipment suppliers, and experts to exchange knowledge and showcase the latest advancements in the field.

President Greg Cook, Secretary Allen Gale ESM  and Treasurer Robbie Palmer attended AFAC23 in Brisbane.

Stirling SES Unit

The Stirling SES unit was formed in 1968 as a Civil Defence group with Joe Rice as Manager and Tom Appleyard as deputy.

It is one of the oldest units in the metropolitan area and has been looking after the community for 55 years.  Take time to read the full story.

Modification General Rescue Vehicle

In our previous newsletter, we provided guidance for SES Units on capital grants for facilities and new equipment.

One of the big wins for SES units is the rollout of the General Rescue Utility (GRU). These vehicles provide enhanced driver and passenger safety, as well as on-road and off-road capability.

Expression of Interest

The SESVA is seeking expressions of interest from SES volunteers for membership of the new SESVA Media And Public Relations Strategy Sub-Committee.

This Team will play a crucial role in maximising the benefits for SES Units by enhancing the visibility, reputation, and relationship of SES Units.
