To all that take the time to read our monthly newsletter, I take this opportunity to start conversations that can make a significant contribution to you.  That is for now and into the future.

State Emergency Service  2022 Award Winners

Winners of the 2022 WA Fire and Emergency Services (WAFES) Awards were announced at the Awards gala dinner on Saturday 10 September at Crown Perth.  Congratulations to all finalists and winners who have all made a significant contribution and commitment to fire and emergency services over the past 12 months, working tirelessly to keep their communities safe.

Upper Great Southern Exercise

The Upper Great Southern Regional Exercise was held over three days from Friday 16th September at the Dryandra Woodland Village in the shire of Cuballing.

Exercise organisers Kerry Keys (Pingelly SES) and Cherese Green (Gosnells SES) pulled together a remarkable weekend of learning, team building and getting to know one another.  

More than 60 SES Volunteers travelled from Units in the Upper Great Southern, SouthWest, Goldfields-Midlands and Metropolitan Regions, as well as having the support of the Communications Support Unit, and SWORD SES Logistics from Perth.

Newest Life Member – Lin Booth

In November 2013 Lin became the SESVA Secretary where he played a pivotal role for more than eight years helping steer the Association to where it is today, giving so much of his time with little or no thought to himself but to the betterment of the Community and the SES.

Lin put all his efforts into providing support, guidance and assistance to SES Regional Representatives, SES Units and many SES Volunteers around the state in areas of training, administration and other related matters.  

National Disaster Rescue Challenge

The NDRC organising team are beginning final preparations for the event at Kings Park on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd October.

Final testing and validation of the assessable rescue stands are almost complete, and the judges will be allocated to stands during the second week of October.

WAFES Conference 2022 Feedback wanted

If you were at the WA Fire and Emergency Services Conference 2022 at Crown Perth on 10 September, your Association wants your feedback to inform our response to DFES when contributing to the organisation of future Conferences.

 

Charity Reforms SES Units

DFES Senior Taxation Officer Anthony Sommes has provided a reminder that all units are no longer eligible for charity registration and will need to voluntarily revoke their charity status.

SESVA AGM

39 volunteers representing 24 SES Units attended the AGM of the SES Volunteer Association of WA at Crown Burswood on Sunday 11th September 2022. Read the full reports
