05/12/2016 – Gosnells SES GPS Challenge

GPS Challenge – 4 December 2016
The Gosnells SES unit hosted a GPS Challenge to for an opportunity to learn and test their skills.  Whilst the invitation was open to all Metro SES units, only 4 units provide six teams that took the challenge and they were:

  • Kalamunda
  • Rockingham
  • Stirling
  • Gosnells

The Gosnells operations team was able to track progress of the teams using UHF radio communications and mapping tool Ozi Explorer.  Safety teams had an easy day with no incidents.  Feedback afterwards, was that it was worthwhile with more SES Volunteers accepting the need to learn this skill, in addition to their NURE qualification. Perhaps a competency to achieve is required?
Thanks to Cherese for the photos of two happy participants on locating their Waypoints and thanks to the Gosnells team who arranged the event. WELL DONE.
There was a sausage sizzle to feed the hungry teams at the conclusion, compliments of DFES.
