22/04/2015 – Vale Carol Abell Bassendean SES

I am saddened to advise that Carol Abell passed away peacefully on Sunday (April 19, 2015) following an illness.  Many of the current members won’t know Carol who is a former member of the Bassendean volunteer State Emergency Service (SES).   Carol became a member somewhat by default, as Clive’s (former unit co-coordinator) wife in the 80’s. Initially Carol assisted here and there with welfare, community events, fundraising, undertaking roles in ops and occasionally comms and countless other tasks around the unit.  Carol was a regular sight at the unit, popular often having members around for a drink or a chat or both, even opening their house for the after party following the local Santa run.  Our condolences to Karen, Helen and Paul and families;  her friends acquaintances that she has made over the years.  She is now reunited with Clive.

A service to celebrate Carol’s life is to be held at the Christian Funerals Chapel, located at the cnr Charles street and Whatley crescent Maylands on Friday April 24th, at 4.00pm.  A private Cremation will take place at a later time.  No flowers by request, however donations to the Cancer Council would be appreciated.

SESVA President Gordon Hall said” On behalf of myself, committee members and members of the SESVA I would express our condolences to Carols family and friends at this sad time”.  Gordon also said” we also remember the contribution that Carols husband Clive made to the SESVA and the SES which was totally supported by Carol”.   Rest in Peace “Carol Abell”
