A TROPICAL Cyclone – the first of the season – is forming off the North West coast of WA.
The Bureau of Meteorology Tropical Cyclone Warning Centre said the tropical low is 790km northwest of Karratha and 750km north northwest of Exmouth and moving south at 13km/h. “The system is not expected to affect the WA mainland in the next 48 hours,” the centre said.
“This low is expected to move to the south southwest and develop into a tropical cyclone on Saturday or Sunday. At this stage it is not expected to produce damaging winds in coastal communities, however people in the north west. of Western Australia should monitor forecasts and warnings closely,” the warning centre said.
