17/06/2011 – Kimberley Training Weekend

Matt Reimer  SES District Manager reports over the last long weekend – June 4-6, we held a Land Search Team Member and Land Search Team Leader course at Mt Elizabeth Station, located about 350km from Derby up the Gibb River Road.  The courses were held at Mt Elizabeth as it is a fairly central location and enabled volunteers to travel from Broome, Derby, Fitzroy Crossing, Halls Creek and Kununurra.

Large marquee tents were erected and used as the classrooms for both courses and the Derby SES catering trailer was utilised to keep all of the troops well fed. A Clark mast was erected to assist with UHF radio communications in the area.

In all 9 volunteers completed the Land Search Team Members course and 4 completed the Land Search Team Leaders course.

  • Halls Creek VES volunteers – 2
