The Australasian and World Rescue Challenge 2011 (ARC/WRC11) is scheduled to take place in Wellington, New Zealand from 14 to 17 July, hosted by the United Fire Brigades Association (UFBA) of New Zealand. The Challenge has representation from all agencies involved in road crash rescue response in Australia and New Zealand.
Expressions of interest are invited to represent FESA at ARC/WRC 11 as observers. One (1) suitably qualified member will be selected from each of the following services. Career Fire & Rescue Service, Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service, and Volunteer State Emergency Service.
The scheduled symposium will focus on the recent spate of natural disasters.
The symposium intends to capitalise on these learning opportunities by comparing and contrasting the response and the rescue skills utilised in the Christchurch and Japan earthquakes, Victorian and Queensland floods and cyclones. Observers will be expected to provide a written report detailing procedural and equipment advancements upon their return and accommodation and travel expenses are provided. Applications are to be in writing and should include an outline of your road crash rescue experience, particular your areas of interest and your proposed scope of your research and report (maximum of 2 pages).
