William (Bill) Mulroney ESM has dedicated an incredible 38 years to the Pingelly community as the Local Manager of
the Pingelly State Emergency Service (SES). As he steps down from his role to make way for a younger volunteer, his
legacy of service and leadership will be remembered for years to come.
A Journey of Dedication
Bill’s journey with the Pingelly SES began shortly after he moved from Queensland to Pingelly in 1984. The SES unit
was formed that same year following a tragic road crash, and Bill quickly became an integral part of the team. By
1986, he had taken on the leadership of the unit, guiding it through numerous challenges and emergencies.
Leadership and Contributions
Throughout his tenure, Bill has represented the SES on various sub-committees and reference groups. He was an
inaugural member of the Minister’s SES Volunteer Advisory Committee (SES VAC), serving as Chairperson for many
years. In 1998, he became the first Chairperson of the newly formed SES Volunteer Consultative Committee, which
replaced the SES VAC with the creation of the Fire and Emergency Services Authority.
