SES Volunteer's Association of Western Australia Incorporated

“Together we can; Together we will”

25/11/2021 – SESVA Presidents Report December 2021

From Greg Cook President of the SESVA

This is the time for wishing everyone the very best for the coming Christmas and New Year period.  All of us at your State Emergency Service Association hope that the very best happens in the way you wish for you. Most of us will enjoy happy times with family and friends but we do acknowledge in advance that some will be active in their role as an emergency service volunteer, helping others no matter what time of day or night.

Like the elected committee members of your Association, we too are all SES Volunteers and act for our colleagues and in turn respond to the community in times of need. So, I say thank you to them for the over and above effort they provide for us.
Whilst my message is one of gratitude, I acknowledge that many of us are making some adjustments at unit level on receiving the advice and mandate for personal safety through the COVID 19 health orders directed at DFES workers, paid or volunteer. Please support each other to stay safe in our role and be conscious of our
family needs as well. Many of us have chosen to be vaccinated to protect each other but as the borders are opened, it is forecast that COVID will enter the state and people may get sick.

Again, I feel that SES members may be asked to be part of a bigger picture response to help the broader communities. We only need to look at our colleagues in the eastern states to learn that many helped many in circumstance that may have been unfamiliar to us.

Enjoy your personal family togetherness in the weeks ahead. Stay safe and we thank you again for what you do for the communities in Western Australia.
