USAR Cat 1 Training
On Saturday 19th September, 6 SES Volunteers from Northam SES and 2 from Toodyay SES attended a USAR Cat 1 course at the WAFES Academy. None of the participants had been to the Academy before and it was a great opportunity for them to see the facility and all of the training areas and props. The rubble pile provided a realistic training environment, as finding something similar in the Northam area is difficult. As their operational locations include earthquake-prone areas, having additional volunteers trained in USAR will improve their capability to respond if required.
