Cadets Visit Northam SES

On Saturday 8th June four dedicated Cadets, and chaperones Miss Grant and Miss Williams, were lucky enough to visit and train with the Northam Districts State Emergency Services (SES).

After an early morning start, we visited their headquarters, touring the facility, and learning about the equipment. Cadets then had a lesson in tying knots, and were really very good! It was amazing to see them learn so quickly, and siblings should be wary or else they might find themselves tied up! They then learned how to use stretchers, and practiced using the equipment on each-other.

We were then treated to a BBQ lunch and time to chat with the SES volunteers, before a quick treat at McDonalds for the bus ride home. It was an amazing morning of working together and learning so much, and the Cadets all came away with new knowledge and some special gifts to take home.

I would like to thank Sarge Bottacin and the SES volunteers for their hospitality and willingness to train our Cadets. It was a great day and we can’t wait to meet up again to learn some more.
