27/12/2013 – SES Volunteers rescue Paraglider

Yesterday (Boxing Day) Specialist SES Volunteers from the Albany SES Unit were called out to rescue a man from a cliff face that had been injured in a paragliding incident near Albany.  The RAC Rescue helicopter wa sent to the incident on Sandpatch Road, in Sandpatch, to transport the injured person but was not required as the paraglider was transported by road.. Police say the 26-year-old was paragliding when something went wrong.  An SES spokesman said Volunteers used vertical rescue technics to raise the trapped man up the cliff face.
