Emergency service volunteers from Wanneroo-Joondalup SES, Two Rocks Volunteer Marine Rescue Group, Yanchep Fire and Rescue, Driver Reviver, Quinns Mindarie Surf Lifesaving Club and Yanchep Surf Lifesaving Club were honoured at a function held by the City of Wanneroo on Friday night.  Around 90 people attended the function at the Civic Centre, with three excellence awards presented to volunteers who had been nominated by their peers for outstanding commitment and dedication to their role as a volunteer.

Karina Saunders from the Wanneroo-Joondalup SES was presented for always helping out in the eight years of being a member. She currently runs the PPE store, is filling in as administration officer and is a Deputy Team Leader.  Corrine Scott of Yanchep Fire and Rescue was honoured for her hard work behind the scenes, keeping all the official papers in order and being happy to help where possible.

Wayne Wyatt from the Two Rocks Volunteer Marine Rescue Group was awarded for being the Operations Officer, on call 24 hours a day overseeing all of the Rescues and Searches and ensuring all emergency vessels are properly maintained.

Mayor Tracey Roberts thanked all the volunteers for their passion and giving their time and talents to our City.  “I really do admire everyone who gives their own time to serve others and certainly, we could not achieve all the work we do as a City without our volunteers,” she said.
