10/05/2012 – Storm Damage

Several boats in the Rockingham region were damaged in stormy weather earlier this week.  At least five vessels broke their moorings and ended up on local beaches, while another boat sank after being battered against Rockingham Jetty.  A spokesman for the SES said the State Emergency Services had received only two callouts to the Rockingham/Kwinana area since Saturday.  The windy and rainy weather picked an appropriate time to make an appearance – right at the beginning of Storm Awareness Week.  FESA Chief Executive Officer Wayne Gregson said the week, which started on May 5 and ends on May 12, was a reminder that the storm season was here and that people needed to get their homes ready.
