“Together we can; Together we will”

03/03/2011 – Important news from Northshore SES

Just a quick email from Nick Elliot to say thank you to all those that have sent me their well wishes in relation to my progressing to (Acting) Local Manager.

As we discussed last night, it is business as usual at Northshore. Or membership is our key, and that has not changed. So I am confident that we will continue to go from strength to strength.

On a personal note, I would like to take this opportunity to again thank Jim MacLean for all of his efforts as Northshore Local Manager over the last few years. I am sure that everyone will agree that he has been a truly fabulous leader, and he has left behind shoes that will be very hard to fill. Jim intends to remain a full volunteer member of the unit, so hopefully we will continue to benefit from his knowledge and his humour(??) for many more years….

Congratulations to Hazel Darkin and to James Hines on their appointment as Deputy Local Managers. I could not think of two better people to fill the role. Both Hazel and James have exceptional unique qualities, and as a team, I am confident that they will work to help in our goal to make Northshore the most reputable and respected SES unit in the Metropolitan area, if not WA. As may of you will understand (and as Jim touched on yesterday)  the behind-the-scenes efforts currently required to keep the unit running continues to escalate, and the appointment of 2 x DLM’s will go some way to assist in that regard. Please take the time to congratulate both Hazel and James when you next see them, and I am sure that I can count on every one of you to give them your full support.

Congratulations also to Dianne Williams in her appointment as Section Leader Administration and Welfare,  to Paul Martin in his appointment as Section Leader Logistics, and to Michel Wood in his appointment as Section Leader Communications. Together with our existing Section Leader Rescue (Eno Gruszecki) and Section Leader Training (Matt Boots) I believe that we now have a truly impressive framework from which to grow. Well done to all three of you in your new appointments.
