People in the area from Onslow to Carnarvon, including Exmouth, Coral Bay and Cape Cuvier and travellers and road houses along North West Coastal Highway, should prepare for heavy rainfall, coastal streams rising, flash flooding, abnormally high tides and locally damaging winds. The Bureau of Meteorology advises that a monsoonal low off the coast of Exmouth is forecast to move slowly to the south. Heavy rainfall is likely to cause flash flooding and coastal stream rises between Onslow and Ningaloo, extending to Carnarvon this afternoon. Periods of damaging winds to 100 kilometres per hour may develop today in exposed coastal locations between Onslow and Exmouth. Heavy surf conditions are expected and tides may rise above the normal high tide mark.
