More SES crews arrive to help with storm damage
Local emergency services resources have been boosted with 95 State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers arriving from Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia to help with the clean up from Monday’s storm. SES has received more than 2700 calls for help since the storm struck. One hundred and fifteen SES volunteers including those from the other states are in the field today helping clear the backlog of calls.
Area Operations Manager Glenn Hall said people who had storm damage to their homes that they had not yet reported and could not fix themselves should call 132 500. “The SES has been responding to calls for assistance on a priority basis,” Mr Hall said. “With crew numbers bolstered now is a good time to report any damage, like fallen trees on roofs, that you can’t fix yourself,” Mr Hall said. “If you have already called to report damage and the SES has not yet attended now is also a good time to ring back.”
Mr Hall said local emergency services have worked tirelessly since Monday afternoon to help the community recover from the storm. “They have attended more than 2000 jobs so far but with backup from the other state’s volunteers many local volunteers can now get some much needed rest,” he said. SES volunteers have been supported since Monday by career and volunteer Fire and Rescue Service and Bush Fire Service firefighters.
