24/03/2010 _ Western Power Update

Western Power crews have worked tirelessly restoring power in the wake of Monday’s storms. A number of new faults have affected the metropolitan area today, namely car crashes in Bentley and Bullsbrook which have diverted restoration crews. Currently there are approximately 8,000 customers still affected by Monday’s storms.

Western Power is still hoping to have the majority of faults affecting more than one customer back on by late tonight, however there are still a number of single customer faults that will need to be attended to. Some of these properties however will not be able to have power restored until an electrician has fixed all the damage on the customer side and it is safe to restore power to the property.

Further storm fronts and significant lightning has affected customers in the south west around Albany and in the north west near Geraldton. This is the third night in a row that these communities have had storm activity cutting power and crews are working hard to get power restored to these areas. Currently 1000 customers in the counrty are affected by power interruptions.
