Kalbarri and Northampton bore the brunt of ex-Tropical Cyclone Seroja last night as it slammed into WA’s mid-west coast, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
Homes have been destroyed and 26,000 residents have been left without power after the cyclone made landfall as a category three storm about 8pm, bringing wind gusts of up to 170 kilometres per hour.
The fast-moving storm tore roofs off houses damaged numerous buildings and infrastructure.

The SESVA is expanding the training initiative we commenced at the beginning of the COVID19 pandemic.
We produced some training ideas for Unit Training Managers to help them with Unit Members training during the lock down period. Now, we are expanding this initiative and hope to include many new ideas for training.
The start is a selection of Team Building exercises. These can be found at https://ses-wa.asn.au/ses-volunteer-training/
If you have an idea for training, and wish to share it with other SES Volunteers, please contact the Secretary – sesva.secretary@seswa.asn.au
The SESVA has received the following advice from AC Delavale on the status of the GRU Urban. “The GRU Urban PAT acceptance has been received and endorsed by myself ready for DC Operations approval.
Once this is finalised, we will engage the relevant Units scheduled to receive a GRUU. The front winching capability requires further research for a solution which will feedback to the PAT.
Apart from that recommendation I think we are almost there. A few points as a follow up on the Local Managers meeting:
