Thunder storms dumped more than 70mm of rain on Mandurah and Rockingham overnight and left up to 4000 people without power. The storms brought heavy rain and lightning strikes which damaged some homes and brought down powerlines. Western Power are working to restore power to about 4000 homes.
SES Volunteers reponded to approximately 100 calls from people reporting minor damage and flooding. SES Volunteers carried out tempory repairs. The storms brought downpours to many centres south of Perth with Mandurah recording 70.2mm in the storm, the wettest December day on record. Garden Island had 38.6mm. Swanbourne recorded 28mm, while Perth had just 7mm, but more rain is forecast for today in the metro area. In the South West there were also heavy falls with Harvey recording 99mm, Myalup 75mm and Bunbury had 42mm.
