Mac Holt reports that Kalbarri SES has again been deployed to the inland areas east, north and south of Carnarvon, for logistics support to the fire crews. The previous years flood had created chest high grass throughout the huge areas of the Gascoyne catchment, which had dried in the summer to create fuel for many fires started by lightning strikes. A new troopy in early January had in just over a month travelled 9,000km during fire support activities.
In addition lots of training for storm damage, rope and cliff rescue off the training tower and in the inland gorges of the Kalbarri National Park.
