Mac Holt reports that Kalbarri SES has been out there on deployment for a search outside our Mid-West region into the middle of the wheat belt. Literally hundreds of kilometres of crops on both sides of the road for as far as the eye could see. The grain silos will be overflowing this year.
And in the middle of the arable land was Petrudor Rocks – 750 acres of thick bush – our search area for a missing person. Here we joined other SES units for two hot days of exhausting ‘bush bashing’ on foot. After all the training and previous bush searches all the Mid-West teams knew their stuff as reflected by the comments from a FESA manager “Whilst we did not find the missing person the search was successful with near perfect search lines and coverage eliminating this area”.
