01/11/2011 – Kalbarri SES news for November 2011

Mac Holt reports there were no call outs this month but lots of training and realistic scenarios kept the boys and girls of Kalbarri SES busy to maintain their high skills, interest and motivation levels. Two of our trainers were involved in Regional training at Tom Price (cliff rescue) and Geraldton (NURE), which extended their training experience with members from other units. To reach the finals of the State Team Awards is a big achievement for our unit and a credit to all of our members who put in the hard yards and long hours over the last year.  The FESA media unit came to video us for the awards presentation night and we had some fun in the River with Flood boat rescue training scenarios in which the ‘boss’ first became a very wet ‘victim’ and then as a second ‘victim’ on land got so covered in tics that he had to jump in the river again to get rid of them much to the amusement of the crews.
