Deputy Chair of the FESA Board Bruce Brennan today acknowledged and commended the role of Ms Jo Harrison-Ward as FESA’s Chief Executive Officer. Mr Brennan said under Ms Harrison-Ward FESA had undergone significant transformation over recent years and had steered the organisation through a period of dynamic change and development.
In response to the release of the Perth Hills Bushfire Review (PHBR) today by the State Government, Mr Brennan said FESA was committed to working with the Government and other emergency management agencies to progress key recommendations that would enhance emergency services for the Western Australian community. “FESA’s focus is on ensuring that fire and emergency services, and the community are as prepared as possible for the 2011-12 bushfire season,” he said.
“FESA will now work through the PHBR recommendations in partnership with the State Government and stakeholders to enhance the delivery of emergency services to protect local communities.” On behalf of the FESA Board Mr Brennan took the opportunity to praise the tremendous effort of all the volunteer and career firefighters, emergency services personnel and government agencies involved in the response to the fires.
“That no lives were lost and hundreds of homes were saved during the horrific fire conditions is a credit to all the staff, volunteers and stakeholders involved,” he said.
