14/03/2011 – Man, woman being treated after search

Two people reported missing in one of WA’s biggest national parks at the weekend have been found.  Police said the man and woman were “relatively well” after being found at Karijini National Park in the State’s North-West about 8.30 this morning.  The man had been bitten by some kind of insect yesterday and was unable to move after becoming ill, police said.  The two decided to remain at Dales Gorge.  “Earlier this morning, at first light, they were able to move and they came into contact with searchers who were searching nearby,” a police spokeswoman said.  The man and woman, who work at a nearby mine site, are being treated by their employer.  Police and State Emergency Service Volunteers  were concerned for the welfare of the people after their vehicle was found in a car park yesterday afternoon.  The search was abandoned last night after it became too dark, but resumed at first light today.
