“Together we can; Together we will”

18/12/2010 – Search for missing man continues

Police Spokesman Samuel Dinnison reports,The search for Mr Shackleton will continue over the weekend. We have concerns for Mr Shackleton’s welfare given the number of days it has been since we were first made aware of him being in need of assistance. Police will continue to work with State Emergency Service volunteers over the weekend. The search on Saturday is expected to start at 0700hrs and may include helciopters to assist with the air search as they did on Friday.

SES Volunteers from the metropolitan area have been deployed to the search. Volunteers from the Great Southern and South West districts have already been involved and the volunteers from the metropolitan area will provide a chance for those volunteers to have a rest. The physical demands on searchers is quite high in this area and they have all done a great job so far and have shown great dedication and professionalism. The volunteers have been supported by their families and employers, especially those who have travelled to the Great Southern part of the state and do not travel home each night, and this support is greatly appreciated.

The search has so far involved a large number of WA Police and emergency service volunteers and is planned to continue.
