A FESA First Aid course was completed at Gosnells SES Unit on Sunday 5 December 2010. This was a continuation of pilot first aid courses conducted on behalf of FESA-SES Training Branch to determine the best delivery model for future volunteer training. The training meets national competency requirements of PUAEME001.
Ten State Emergency Service and 4 Bush Fire volunteers completed the course under training and assessment of FESA instructors Jim Ridgwell, Joe Taylor and Phillip Petersen.
The course was run over one evening and one full day. It included the mandatory theory and assessments with three practical scenarios, with a pre reading requirement.
There are future plans to complete additional modules to achieve the requirements for Manage Injuries at Emergency Incident, PUAEME 002, and Administer Oxygen in an Emergency, PUAEME003 national competencies.
Gosnells Unit Manager, Mark Geary, complimented both instructors and students for their commitment on this essential rescue training.
