24/10/2010 – Metro Challenge 2010

The SES metro challenge was held on Sunday the 24th of October 2010 at Joel Park in East Perth with over 100 SES Volunteers attending. Well done Metro SES units and the event organisers for a very successful Metro Challenge 2010.  A better day or location could not have been wished for as SES Units from across the metro area came together to test their SES skills. The challenge was about going back to basics which tested the participants ability to be able to operate with limited technology and equipment.

The day was tinged with saddest with the sudden passing of Henry Edwards.  The activities started with a remembrance service for Henry lead by FESA Chaplain Ron Wingate which saw SES Volunteers and FESA staff  come together to  remember a hard working and dedicated SES Volunteer who will be sadly missed by all.

The challenge then got underway with many and varied stands which provided a test of skills, leadership and lateral thinking.  There was something for everyone from flying fox, rescue from heights, search and a water rescue.  The location of the event provided great exposure to public and many members of the public stopped by to watch the activities and events.

More pictures of the days activities will be displayed in the gallery sections as soon as they are avaliable that is when I get them organised.
