25/03/2010 – SES crews continue Perth storm recovery operations

State Emergency Service crews (SES) along with visiting interstate SES crews continue to work hard to help the people of Perth in the recovery process of Monday’s devastating storm.   As at 10.30 this morning there have been more than 3000 total calls for assistance since the storm hit. There are 181 jobs yet to be completed.

Perth Metropolitan North:

In the Perth Metropolitan North region there have been at least 2,200 calls for assistance with 120 jobs to complete. SES crews from Victoria are working with WA SES teams from Stirling, North Shore, Wanneroo, Broome, Port Hedland and Karratha.

Perth Metropolitan South:

In the Perth Metropolitan South region there have been more than 800 calls for assistance with 61 jobs yet to be completed. SES crews from South Australia and NSW are working with WA crews from Gosnells, Belmont and Canning. These crews are being assisted with driver and equipment support from SES crews from Rockingham, Cockburn, Canning and Serpentine Jarrahdale.

The SES around Perth have been applying tarpaulins to damaged roofs, replacing tiles on roofs and clearing away fallen trees and debris.
 
SES urges people to remain patient . If people have previously called the SES and are not home when crews arrive a card with helpful information will be left at their home.
