The Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services is referred to as a Tri-Service. The Tri-Service is responsible for the protection of life and property and the provision of disaster and emergency management to widely dispersed communities throughout the 1.35 million square km of the Northern Territory.   Members of the Tri-Service work in diverse locations that extend from the northern reaches of the Tiwi Islands to the southern desert communities. Members are stationed to the west as far as Wadeye, east to Avon Downs and south to Kulgera.
