ANZAC DAY PARADE – SES VOLUNTEERS

The Returned Services League (RSL) of WA is hosting ANZAC Day services at more than 100 locations throughout the State.  This year, attention will move from Gallipoli to The Western Front, as we remember the thousands of Australians who died 100 years ago at places like Poziers and Fromelles.  More information can be found at:  http://www.rslwahq.org.au/commemoration/anzac-day.aspx

As in previous years, the SES Volunteers Association is looking for SES volunteers to participate in the Perth RSL ANZAC Day parade though Perth City.

The ANZAC Day Parade through Perth will start at 9am this year, which is half an hour earlier than usual.

Date:                           25th April 2015

Dress requirements:  As per DFES dress & grooming standards and previous ANZAC Day marches

RSVP to:                     manager@swanses.org.au

All RSVP’s will be passed on to the DFES officer in charge of the DFES contingent ANZAC Day march.

If anyone is interested in being a flag bearer, please indicate this in your RSVP. The Flag bearer/s will be chosen in consultation with the Volunteers Assn. Executive, closer to ANZAC Day.

For those who want to practice their marching, especially if chosen to be flag bearer, it is planned to hold two practice marching days:

  • Saturday 2nd April
  • Saturday 23rd April

Practice starts at 0900hrs on both days  at the Swan Emergency Services Facility, Bishop Road, Middle Swan.

This notice is being distributed before the DFES circular to give volunteers additional time to plan for ANZAC Day and obtain the dress uniforms if they do not already possess one. There may be some problems with supply, so if uniforms are difficult to source from the supplier try other units in your region as they may have some sizes in stock.

The SES Volunteers Association appreciates that many SES units support local ANZAC Day events throughout the state, but it would be great to have a good number of SES Volunteers representing SES in the Parade. It is our contribution to honouring all of those who have given to Australia in times of military conflict and peace operations.
