24/06/2010 - Urgent recall of first-aid saline

St John Ambulance is recalling a batch of saline solution which is contaminated and may cause infection.  The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and St John Ambulance said that people who had Survival Emergency Products Saline in their first-aid kit should destroy the vials.  "If you have any vials of Survival 15ml Saline solution (batch 20090715), do not use it," St John Ambulance said.  "Please destroy the vials and we will send you replacement vials."
The product was sold nationally between September 2009 and December 2009.  The saline was supplied in the following St John First Aid Kits: Leisure small - batch SJ0902; Leisure medium - batch SJ0903; and Leisure large - batch SJ0904.  Those affected by the urgent recall are urged to contact Customer Service on 1300 598 829 or (02) 8788 1362.
